Dr. Bien J. Matawaran

Dr. Bien J. Matawaran is a Fellow of the Philippine College of Physicians and the Philippine College of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism (PCEDM). 

He is currently Chairman and Professor of the Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Nutrition of the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery and Chief of the section of endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism of the  University of Santo Tomas Hospital. He served as Past President of the PCEDM in 2015.

He has been part of several national practice guidelines and consensus statements in diabetes, dyslipidemia, obstructive sleep apnea and cardiovascular protection in patients with diabetes.
He is also part of several important regional recommendations and publications on lipid management, diabetic neuropathy, CV and renal protection in diabetes plus specific treatment in diabetes like SGLT2 inhibitors and insulin.
